I'm thrilled to announce that xbase has gotten its first paying customer. It took nearly two years to reach this point.
Here's the pain I've endured:
- Clashed and parted ways with my CTO co-founder, who was also my best friend
- Began developing xbase on my own (I am a terrible dev)
- Couldn't present at Primer Demo Day due to poor metrics
- Lost our best developer after failing to secure the next round of funding
- Endured a year of "When will you start earning? Just quit and find a real job" from people around me
- Drained our runway and all my savings
- Tried to extend our runway by pivoting xbase to a paid only but faced a 0% conversion rate for two months, leading to a total dropout of our free user base.
- In 2023, I suffered from insomnia, had tonsillitis three times, and visited the dermatologist every two weeks due to stress-related psoriasis.
This small revenue feels like a reward for all the tough times I've been through.
If I hadn't seen the perseverance of indie makers on Twitter like @marc_louvion and @pwang_szn, I would have given up long ago.
I hope my small achievement can inspire others.
Wishing all makers a Happy New Year!
P.S. A huge shout-out to @deepjyoti30_tw. I wouldn't have made it this far without you. I'm really grateful to have you on the team. Let's keep the momentum going!🏄♂️
